Launched in 2025, Southern Bee was born out of a necessity. For too long, the stories of the Global South comprising Africa, Latin America, Developing Asia and the Middle East have been told through the lens of external observers. The narrative has often been reductive, focusing on crisis rather than complexity and aid rather than agency.
We established Southern Bee to correct this imbalance. Headquartered in a decentralized network across four continents, we are an independent media organization dedicated to covering the seismic shifts in geopolitics, energy and the digital economy from the perspective of the nations living through them.
